ASHLYN DUNHAM CCC-SLP

Ashlyn received her Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology from the University of Kansas Medical Center and her Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders with a minor in Child Development from the University of Arkansas. Ashlyn has experience working in a variety of settings including autism diagnostic clinics, hospitals, and pediatric rehabilitation centers. She has had the opportunity to work with children with Autism Spectrum Disorders, developmental delays, traumatic brain injury, motor speech disorders, and those who use augmentative and alternative communication devices. During her education, Ashlyn conducted research looking at language development in infants and toddlers and received training in Childhood Apraxia of Speech.

Ashlyn is passionate about providing engaging, individualized therapy that builds on the child’s strengths and leads to outcomes that are functional and meaningful for the family.

A few of Ashlyn’s favorite things are baking cakes, traveling with friends, and finding new restaurants in Kansas City!

KARINA PARRISH CCC-SLP

Karina has a Health Science Degree from University of Missouri and a Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Rockhurst University. She has had the opportunity to work with clients of all ages in schools, summer programs, outpatient rehabilitation facilities, and private practice. Karina loves working with families to ensure goals will empower both her clients and their families. She has serviced a variety of individuals including those with Autism Spectrum Disorders, Down Syndrome, hearing loss, ADHD, speech and language delays, fluency disorders, social emotional disorders, and those who use alternative augmentative communication devices.

Karina is originally from Chicago but now calls Kansas City her home. Outside of therapy she enjoys yoga, gardening, and taking her pup to the dog park!

DELANEY OWEN CCC-SLP

Delaney is a Wichita native who received her Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology and her Bachelor’s degree in Speech Language and Hearing with a minor in Applied Behavioral Sciences from the University of Kansas. During her education, Delaney completed the Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) program which is a year-long traineeship at the University of Kansas Medical Center focusing on interdisciplinary, family-centered care. She has experience in a variety of settings including elementary schools, hospitals, and outpatient clinics. During those experiences, Delaney has been able to work with a variety of individuals including those with Autism Spectrum Disorders, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, speech and language delays, cleft lip and palate, neurodegenerative diseases and those who use augmentative alternative communication. She has completed additional continuing education in the areas of Childhood Apraxia of Speech and phonological/articulation disorders.

Delaney is passionate about play-based, engaging therapy sessions that target relevant and meaningful goals for the whole family.

SARAH CUSTER CCC-SLP

Sarah holds a Master’s degree from Rockhust University in Speech-Language Pathology, and a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Science Disorders from Missouri State University. Sarah is currently in her tenth year working for a local school district where she provided speech-language services to children ranging in age from Kindergarten through 12th grade. She is a licensed speech-language pathologist with experience providing therapy to children with speech-language delays, social communication, Down Syndrome, Autism Spectrum Disorders, and Augmentative and Alternative Communication.

In her free time, Sarah enjoys trips to Disney world, the happiest place on earth, with her family and spending quality time with her cats, Steve and Evie.

MARY WALDENMEYER CCC-SLP

Mary received her Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Kansas, where she also earned her bachelors in Speech-Language-Hearing and Spanish education. She has experience working in a variety of settings including outpatient clinics, hospitals, elementary schools, and early childhood settings. During those experiences, Mary has been able to work with a variety of individuals including those with Autism Spectrum Disorders, Down syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Fluency Disorders, speech and language delays, cleft lip and palate, voice disorders, and those who use augmentative alternative communication. She also has experience working with children with feeding and swallowing difficulties and received specialized training in the Sequential Oral Sensory (SOS) Approach to Feeding in the summer of 2019. She has a passion for affirming and expanding upon every individual’s abilities, and helping others succeed.

Outside of the clinic, Mary enjoys competitive waterskiing, snowboarding, yoga, and spending time with family!

DANIELLE NOVASCONE CCC-SLP

Danielle has been practicing in the speech pathology field for over 15 years. Danielle attended Kansas State University where she graduated with honors with her bachelor’s degree in communication sciences and disorders. She then earned her master’s degree in speech-language pathology at the University of Kansas.

Danielle has working with Playabilties families since 2017. Prior to that, Danielle spent ten years working for Blue Valley School district where she provided speech-language services to children ranging in age from pre-K through 12th grade. In 2011, she was awarded “Master Teacher of the Year” from her school building for her work in special education. Danielle is a licensed speech-language pathologist with experience providing therapy to children with speech-language delays, learning disabilities, Autism, social skills deficits, cognitive impairments, developmental disabilities and ADHD.

In her free time, Danielle enjoys reading, baking, and spending time with her two children, William and Ada.

NICHOLLE RYAN CCC-SLP

Nicholle received her undergraduate degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Western Washington University and completed her graduate degree in Speech-Language Pathology through the University of Utah. She has experience diagnosing and treating a variety of communication disorders including articulation, speech fluency, receptive and expressive language, and social communication difficulties in school-age children both in the school and outpatient clinic settings. Nicholle moved to the Kansas City area from Portland, Oregon in June 2018.

In her free time, she enjoys dancing, reading, hiking, and spending time with family and friends.

EMILY KERR CCC-SLP

Emily is a Kansas state and American Speech-Language and Hearing Association licensed Speech-Language Pathologist. She received her undergraduate degree in Speech-Language-Hearing: Sciences and Disorders at the University of Kansas. Her graduate degree in Communication Disorders was received from the University of Texas at Dallas.

Emily spent six years working as a Speech-Language Pathologist in the public school system. She began working at Playabilities in 2016 as a full time speech-language pathologist. She has experience working with children of all ages with a variety of needs: articulation, expressive and receptive language, social communication, feeding, Down Syndrome, Autism Spectrum Disorders, and Augmentative and Alternative Communication. Because of her passion for helping families and therapists meet their goals, Emily served in the scheduling manager role for Playabilities from April 2020 through December 2022. Beginning in January 2023, Emily transitioned back to providing speech therapy to the children at Playabilities.

COURTNEY FAERBER CCC-SLP

Courtney holds a Master’s degree from Rockhurst University in Speech-Language Pathology, and a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Science Disorders from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Courtney has experience working with children ages 2-21 with a variety of speech and language disorders. Her experiences include working in elementary school, hospitals, preschools, and private clinics. She specializes in receptive and expressive language disorders, articulation, social communication delays, and a wide range of developmental disorders.

Courtney has experience in continuing education with the SOS Approach to Feeding therapy, Dyslexia, and working with children on the autism spectrum as well as children with Down Syndrome. Courtney strives to make each therapy session individualized, motivating, and fun for every client. Family-centered therapy is Courtney’s passion, and she feels strongly that parents are their children’s best teachers.

In her free time, Courtney enjoys exploring Kansas City with her husband, Jack. She also loves to be with friends and family, especially her nieces and nephews. She loves to be outside and enjoys traveling to the beach and mountains when she can!
