Taylor received both her Bachelor’s in communication science and Master’s degree in speech language pathology from the University of Central Missouri. She previously worked in the school setting and currently PRN in acute-care at a local hospital. During her time in the school setting, Taylor worked in a center-based program primarily for students with autism spectrum disorders and high-support needs. Many of her students were non-speaking, which layed a foundation for Taylor’s passion and experience with augmentative and alternative communication device use.
Taylor has received continuing education in the natural language acquisition approach for children who exhibit echolalia (known as scripting). Additionally, she has experience evaluating and treating students with articulation/phonology delays, language disorders, fluency, motor speech disorders as well as special populations such as cerebral palsy, Down Syndrome, Traumatic Brain Injury, and genetic disorders. Taylor loves play-based therapy because it allows her to follow the child’s lead and incorporate their interests to make therapy fun, while also helping them reach their goals. Creating relationships through a family and team-centered approach is something she values.
Outside of work, Taylor enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, outdoor activities, reading, and being a dog mom to her cavapoo, Nash.
