Taylor graduated from Kansas State University with a Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Throughout her career as a Speech-Language Pathologist, Taylor has gained experience working with a wide range of clients, ranging in ages 2 months to adult within the school, inpatient rehabilitative, and outpatient rehabilitative setting. Once completing her degree, Taylor worked at an Early Childhood Special Education program while also providing private speech and language services to families.
She has primarily worked within an outpatient pediatric rehab setting for the majority of her career. Taylor has experience diagnosing and treating speech and language disorders for typically developing children, as well as children of special populations secondary to Down Syndrome, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Cerebral Palsy, neurogenic disorders (e.g., Childhood Apraxia of Speech), and genetic disorders. She has experience with interventions targeting receptive and expressive language skills, articulation and phonological delays, early literacy skills, fluency, social-emotional skills, and Alternative and Augmentative Communication devices. She also has extensive knowledge and experience as a feeding specialist within our Playabilities setting where she provides feeding therapy to children of various ages and diagnoses.
Working with children in the outpatient pediatric setting has taught her a lot about how successful therapy can be when the interventions are holistic in nature. She greatly believes in the importance of early intervention, creating a strong functional communication system, family involvement, and the power of play. She has advanced certification in treating children with a variety of feeding challenges and received certification for implementing the Sequential Oral Sensory (SOS) Approach to Feeding in August, 2016. She has completed advanced coursework in regards to feeding children on the Autism Spectrum, feeding birth to 6-month-old infant, transitioning children from purees to solids, as well as helping children to transition off supplemental tube feedings.
In November 2021, Taylor received certification for implementing the Supporting Oral Feedings in Fragile Infants (SOFFI) method. Taylor is also part of the Leadership Team at Playabilities, as she oversees Quality Assurance and Compliance for the organization. She plays a crucial role in developing, implementing, and overseeing quality improvement programs and initiatives to enhance client outcomes, optimize service delivery, and comply with regulatory standards. In this role, she collaborates with a broad array of stakeholders to drive continuous improvement and ensure the provision of high-quality care.
In her free time, she enjoys traveling, being outdoors, practicing yoga, and spending time with her friends and family.
