Sarah completed her undergraduate and graduate degrees at The University of Kansas. She was part of KU’s first cohort of students in The Accelerated Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology program. During her time as a student, she engaged in various research surrounding Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and structured her project on diversity within AAC devices.
She has been published in the Perspectives of the ASHA Special Interest Groups through co-authoring a manuscript about part-time AAC use. Sarah has experience working in public elementary schools and early intervention models.
She speaks Spanish and enjoys serving bilingual children, helping them develop skills in both languages. She has a passion for AAC, literacy, and bilingual language development. She prides herself in her commitment to equality in care, communication with families, and client compassion. She believes heavily in the importance of family involvement in communication treatment and values a team approach to intervention.
