Playabilities does not diagnose children, though we’re happy to refer your family to providers who can provide diagnostic evaluations. We can also share paperwork and clinical observations with your provider to support their evaluation.

No, we are not licensed mental health play therapists, but we do incorporate play-based therapy throughout our multi-disciplinary practices! We are occupational, physical, and speech therapists who use play as the primary means of connecting with children.

You don’t need to stay during your child’s treatment time—in fact, we understand a parent’s need for a break! Many parents take the opportunity to run errands or enjoy a quiet walk. Of course, parents are always welcome to stay. Depending on your preference, you can observe or participate in therapy.

We do not provide ABA therapy. However, some of our children receive ABA therapy services outside of Playabilities, and we are always happy to provide holistic support to your family by collaborating with outside providers.

At Playabilities, the DIR model guides our approach. DIR stands for Development, Individual Differences, and Relationship-based therapy.

This approach focuses on social and emotional skills, allowing the child to lead through play. By building a relationship with your child, we help them stay on track for developmental milestones.

Our standard practice is to conduct evaluations here at Playabilities, where we have the right setting for completing evaluations. However, some children have heavily school-based concerns. In these cases, we do establish a treatment plan within our clinic setting and our therapists are happy to set up a school observation to assess the child’s needs within this context.
